Rinki Dewangan - A Combination Of Melody And Grace

Rinki Dewangan is a folk singer of younger generation of Chhattisgarh. She is famous for stage performances at state level cultural events, folk songs as well as devotional songs.

Rinki Dewangan’s Background

Rinki was born to Devlal Dewangan and Kumari Bai Dewangan at Chandrapur( Maharashtra). At that time her parents used to live there. Her ancestral village is Sakraud, near Gunderdehi, district- Balod(Chhattisgarh) and her parents have been living here for last 10-12 years and do agriculture. Her parents lived in Chandrapur for considerable years.

She is married to Yogesh Dewangan, father- Ishwar Dewangan from village Arkaar, Gurur, district – Durg(Chhattisgarh). Yogesh is an engineering graduate and does business. He is a folk singer, works in field of music and is associated with team “Sangi Ke Maya” of Gunderdehi. Rakesh Sahu is director of the team.

How Did Couple Meet ?

During a programme in Village Arkar, Rinki and Yogesh met as a stage performer and as an audience respectively. At Mitaan Mahotsava also they met up but at both occasions they were not familiar to each other. They give credits to Yogesh Kiran Sahu for their introduction to each other.

Education

She has done graduation and post graduation in Sangeet Siksha from Indira Kala Sangit Vishvavidyalaya, Khairagarh(C.G.). For 3 years as regular student and 2 years as private student in Sangeet Gaayan. She has done MA(for 2 years) in Lok Sangeet(Folk Music) and classical vocal from the same institute.

Career In Singing

Rinki Dewangan started journey of singing from recording dances since she was 10 years old at village levels and other bigger platforms.

In 2006-2007, she joined Lok Rang Arjunda(Chhattisgarhi Folk Cultural Organisation). She learnt dance, singing and commentary commedy under the guidance of Deepak and others.

In 2009-2010, she joined Chinhari(Chhattisgarhi Folk Cultural Organisation), which was started by Dushyant Harmukh. For almost 5 year she worked with them. She used to dance there and sing folk songs occasionally.

Turning Point

Joining Rang Jharokha(Chhattisgarhi Folk Cultural Organisation), which was started in 2017, was turning point for her career as she got recognised as singer since that time and this recognition spread out across Chhattisgarh through social media channels like YouTube and others.

Rinki Dewangan’s Performances

She has sung songs for Dushyant Harmukh led Geet Sangeet (Chhattisgarhi Folk Cultural Organisation). She has performed singing only for Dushyant’s Geet Sangeet but is willing and trying to work on any other good projects outside also.
