WHAT IS IT ?

Surya Namaskar or Sun salutation is a sequence of 12 interlinked yoga poses.

HISTORY OF IT ?

Legacy of Surya Namaskar has been given to us by enlightened sages of Vedic periods.

BEST TIME TO DO IT?

Best time to do it is at sunrise in the morning. It should be done in open air facing towards the Sun. Sunset time is also good to do it. Suryanamaskar aasana can be done at anytime with condition that stomach should be empty. It should be done with loose and comfortable clothes.

HOW MANY ROUNDS OF SURYA NAMASKAR?

Doing 12 sequences of yoga poses counts to 1 round. For spiritual gain do it slowly for 3-12 rounds. For physical gains do it with quick speed for 3-12 rounds. Beginner should start with 2-3 rounds and then 1 more round should be added in subsequent weeks. Tiredness should be avoided in any conditions. In special circumstances for purification purpose, 108 rounds of daily practices can be done but in the guidance of expert.

ORDER

Surya Namaskar should be done before other aasanas.

LIMITATIONS

Surya Namaskar should be stopped if you get fever, skin diseases or allergic symptoms like body part swollen, rashes on skin.

It should not be practised by person with high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and who has suffered a heart attack.

Person with back-pain should take advices from a yoga expert before starting it.

It can be started after periods days. It can be practised till starting of the 12th week of the pregnancy. It can be restarted in 40 days after delivery.

BENEFITS OF SURYA NAMASKAR

It incites to and establishes balance in endocrine or hormonal disorder, blood circulation, digestion and other systems of the body.

For getting better awareness and good health Surya Namaskar is an ideal yogaasana.
